Ok yes, the whole country is in a state of flux and we were out of the Euros in no time… but chin up Blighty, it’s not all bad! There’s a whole season of goodness on our screens (and if you’re lucky, to watch in the stands) because 2016 houses a glorious summer of sport with a huge range of events to keep you entertained right up until the end of August.

Looking for games on home soil? Head for the hallowed cricket grounds of Lords in July or join the roaring crowds at the Rugby Challenge Cup Final in August. Across the pond, don’t miss the Olympic Games in Rio from 5th August – providing three weeks of back-to-back sporting stardom. If you didn’t manage to bag a ticket, join the hoards cheering on Team GB at home and don’t miss a minute with the magazine.co.uk Summer of Sport infographic!

Here at magazine.co.uk HQ, we’ve compiled a few fun facts and figures from the sporting events of the summer so far. Tweet us your favourite or suggest new facts as the summer of sport progresses – you can find us @magazinecouk!

  • 10th JULY: Portugal win the 2016 Euros, beating the hosts and making history; this was their first win against France since 1975
