Beauty blogger Trusha from Secret Style File reveals her top beauty tips for the perfect summer holiday.

Having just come back from a sunny holiday in Morocco and after reading the ‘if men did holiday prep’ article in the latest InStyle magazine, I got thinking about how much preparation actually goes into looking fabulous on holiday. It's a lot of work, but I think I have it down. So here are my top tips!

Eight weeks before the date and various personal training sessions are booked in, just to get the bikini body back in shape and those abs nice and toned. Smothering on firming creams in between gym sessions (or those occasions when a second helping of dessert seemed like a good idea) I personally love Soap & Glory’s ‘Sit Tight’ to keep those wobbly bits firm.

Next down the timeline is to grow your eyebrows for at least three weeks before you fly in order for a nice clean finish that will last the duration of your holiday. Of course this means avoiding weddings, big nights out and selfies so there’s no chance of being seen with the overgrown eyebrows.

The week you fly is always the busiest and inevitably leaves me feeling like I need a holiday more than ever by the time the plane leaves. First of all there’s the gel finish manicure and pedicure in colours that will show off the fresh tan perfectly (gels just last longer and won’t crack at the first suitcase falling on your foot) and then the cut, colour and perhaps a smoothing treatment if your hair tends to misbehave in hot/humid weather.

Let’s not forget the full body exfoliation in the shower every morning, which will ensure a smooth and even tan. Finally in terms of body beauty there’s the all-important Brazilian, which ideally should be a day or two before you go but perfectly timed around one’s monthly cycle — easier said than done.

As I have an Asian skin tone I don’t need to worry about eyelash tinting (due to having naturally dark hair) nor self-tanning, which is a whole new ball game. But there’s always time for last minute trips to Boots for those travel-sized essentials, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which always seem to disappear after every holiday.

I also always grab last minute holiday items from duty-free, stocking up on luxury brands and anything summery which catches my eye in the gorgeous summer displays. Shopping for holiday carries on right up until you board the plane. Oh, wait… then there’s the in-flight duty-free!
