We love the crafty Merit badges lovely blogger Fritha made from the March issue of Mollie Makes - not only are they bang on trend, they're also super easy to make! All you need is a pencil, some 12 x 12" canvas fabric, an embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle and thread and you're ready to go!

  1. Trace a design on to your canvas - you can find them in Mollie Makes, online or even draw one of your own!
  2. Place the canvas inside the embroidery hoop  and centre your design.
  3. Use your needle to thread different colours and stitches. If you have a particular effect in mind or you've never embroidered before, we like this guide by Craftsy to help you get started.
  4. Finish with a border around the edges - the Mollie Makes guide suggests satin stitch, but you can choose whichever you prefer!
  5. Attach your merit badge with fabric glue or stitch straight on.

If you're not sure what to add it to, we've got plenty of ideas - why not add to a denim jacket for ultimate cool or personalise a canvas shopping bag? We love how Wilf, Fritha's super cute 5 year old son, chose the 'kindness' patch for his school backpack - a lovely craft for Mums and kids alike!

Psst...! We've partnered with Fritha of Tigerlilly Quinn blog to give away a Mollie Makes magazine subscription - perfect for crafty mums! Check out her Mother's Day make blog and make sure you enter to win!

Mother's Day is the perfect excuse to bake something pretty - we think these Raspberry and White Chocolate Macarons from magazine.co.uk favourite Olive magazine are perfect! Not only do they look impressive, they're also surprisingly quick and easy to make - you can whip these up in under an hour. We think the mix of sharp-yet-sweet raspberry jam and delicious rich white chocolate makes for a seriously moreish pairing, too. Add some pretty blush pink roses for an extra touch. There's no such thing as too much pink!

If you need to order something quick but want something she'll appreciate all year round, we say you can't go wrong with a magazine gift subscription. Whether she's looking for fabulous features on life and style, interviews with her favourite celebrity women or recipes, crafts, buying and gift guides, there's something for every mum! We're big fans of Good Housekeeping for a good all rounder, Women's Health for fitness loving mums and Good Homes for would-be interior designers! Order by 20th March and you'll get a FREE box of Thorntons chocolates, too.  Whether or not they make it to Mum's? Well... we won't tell.
